Ranked 9th in the country in 2015-16, the Maverick Bowling Program offers outstanding opportunities in both Men's and Women's Intercollegiate Bowling for students with interest and skills. The team travels each season to about 10 tournaments reaching from Wisconsin to Las Vegas, Nevada!
University Bowler Makes Nationals
Will Mateffy Represents Minnesota State Mankato At National Bowling Finals
For only the second time in Minnesota State University, Mankato history, a bowler has qualified for the collegiate national bowling finals.
Will Mateffy, a member of the Maverick men’s bowling team, bowled a six-game total of 1325 points to place sixth out of 300 bowlers at the sectional tournament March 10-12 in Addison, Ill. His performance earned him an all-expense paid invitation from United States Bowling Congress to the bowling finals April 16-23 in Baton Rouge, La. The list of national qualifiers will be narrowed to a five finalists competing in a CBS televised championship round.
“This is an amazing achievement,” said Maverick Bowling Coach Kyle Bischoff. “He is only the second to get this far in Minnesota State Mankato history.”Mateffy, a junior business management major from Victoria, Minn., bowled a high game of 277 with a six-game average of 220 to be among nine sectional bowlers advancing to the nationals.
