CSU Facts:
CSU policy, budget and direction is set in consultation with the Union Board.  This group of students is appointed through MSSA (Minnesota State Student Association) and is integral to the ongoing life of the building.

The CSU is a student building.  It is fully funded through student fees and generated revenue.  It is recognized as part of the Minnesota State University Revenue Fund.

The CSU opened in the fall of 1967 and has been expanded three times since it was first constructed.  The original facility included a grand ballroom, meeting spaces, food service and some office space.

In 1972 the western half of the main building was added to house additional conference rooms and offices as well as the Ostrander Auditorium, campus bookstore, and the Maverick Games Room.

In 1999 a two story addition was added to the west of the main building to expand student organization offices.  This wing of the building continues to house MSSA (Minnesota State Student Association), The Reporter (Campus News paper), and a variety of Student Activity programs and services.

The most recent addition and renovation was completed in 2005.  This renovation was funded through a bond process and will be paid for over a 20 year period through student fees.   The south entrance, a revitalized food court and campus hub are the result of this work.

Past Directors of the CSU include: Roy Lashway (1966-1976), Jim Zwickey (1976-1995), Henry Morris (1995-2005) and Mike Hodapp (Interim 2005-2006).  Current CSU director is Laurie Woodward.

The CSU has been fortunate to have a long serving and dedicated staff.  Several key team members have been a part of the CSU for over 20 years, they include; Mike Hodapp, Willie Steil, and Scott Hagebak
